...yesterday at 1:30PM EST and hasn't stopped yet. We have 12" of snow here in Central MA.

Tomorrow we'll be getting another 6 inches from a new storm, followed by a nice coating of ice. laugh

Not bad for the 1st storm snow storm of the season, maybe we'll even have a White Christmas this year. . wink grin

I'm expecting the power to go out here when the ice arrives but I think we'll be ok. We're going through our check lists now.

It's worse up north. Many people are still without power from last Thursday.

On a side note, since most of the roads here are still unplowed. I went out for a ride today and had a little fun.

I love 4x4!!

Thanks for reading.

bad in the Upper Midwest also..the city declared a snow emergency which means we will have to move our cars so they can plow curb to curb..a snow emergency is also the cue to stock up and stay close to home..

i braved the almost deserted streets to make a run before dark---

good thing too..i had a hard time finding a parking spot..and oh ya..i went across the street to pick up bread and milk--

Northeastern Illinois had about 12" of snow Thursday night through Friday morning. It was the heavy stuff that kills AARP shovelers. It was the kids' first snow day ... and last day before their winter break.

I have a good-sized 4WD tractor with a front-end loader and rear blade, so I was more like a kid in a pretty white sandbox - making real big piles for the kids to play on. I also ran around to see if I could help out neighbors, but most of them have their own tractors or big honkin' snowblowers.

Tonight we got another, oh, maybe 1/2" of snow. Its really a nice night out. My daughter & I wandered around for a while enjoying the silence and beauty. No wind at all, maybe in the 20's, and best of all ... no bugs.

Maybe I'll take some pics tomorrow ... though its supposed to be really cold (single digits F).

No snow here in Denver yet, just getting cold again. Tomorrow's high is supposed to be 8 deg F. Certain to be colder elsewhere.

Makes me shiver to see the snow and nasty conditions. Cold, wet and miserable are not my style. Try to stay warm.

Which is why I moved down south:

It was pretty close to 80F this afternoon round these parts. Real nice blue sky with a light breeze. Tee shirt and shorts weather. Nights are in the upper 50s, low 60s the last week. Good sleeping weather. Supposed to get a bit colder come Monday but not too bad. Christmas is supposed to be in the mid 60s, maybe higher.

All right, the temps finally gone up to -5.7. Supposed to be a high of 4.
But, no bugs here, either.

To each his own. Last winter in Florida just wasn't right for me, I guess I just need the cold cycle as much as hot. Although the tangerines we had on the tree last year were awesome.

Temps here today are much higher than predicted. Already we are at 17 deg F and looks like it could make it into the 20s. Kinda nice standing out on the back porch in tee shirt, jeans and slippers puffing on my pipe and basking in the warm glow of a solstice sun. I can take it for about 15 to 20 minutes at a time. Then back inside to my couch in front of the fireplace snuggling with my puppy and a warm cup of coffee laced with butterscotch Schnapps.

We got about 12" on Friday. I was out hunting Saturday a.m. in -4 degrees, but it "warmed up" to 22 degrees for the night hunt slogging through that foot of snow. Today we got another 8" --- oh and 30 mph wind. The winds will have been going for about 24 hours before they knock it off. And we are anticipating another 6-8" Tuesday night. Not liking that lake effect at all!
