My Cutter was punching holes in the ocean in the middle of a miserable storm. Most of the crew were violently ill to the point
they were lying in bunks with only a few hands in any shape to stand watch.I had been sick, but my body was purged to a point I could stand up, and I stood a double helm watch drinking coffee with the skipper.
I think it was in the 9th hour I started mumbling a song. Skipper said ' I know that song, what are you humming kav?'
I apologised, said it was an old Beach Boy song. 'No, thats O.K. we're both punchy by now, yes, I remember now' and we both started a hoarse, off key rendition of The Sloop John B.

Old Cleveland, Ohio tradition from the 70's and 80's:

Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run" at 5:54 PM, Fridays on WMMS. Car stereo cranked up loud enough to blow out the windows. cool
