Just would like to share that the Dollar Tree (in my area at least) has some compressed hand towels called "Magic Cloths". When they are taken out of the package and added to water they swell up and regain their original size. I have picked up a few and scattered them throughout some of my gear. I've got one in front of me now, and it measures 2" X 2" X about 7/16".They come in a sealed cellophane wrapper. Handy! I've got one in my bike scratch kit (first aid for scratches and road rash), always have water in my water bottle, so now I've got something to clean up a bit before applying bandages. I thought that they are a handy piece of kit that someone might like knowing about.

See ya down the road
Glenn G.

My wife has a bunch of these. You can usually find them in packs of 4 or 6. Not a bad thing to have in your kit.

Thanks for the heads up. That's a good idea. I've been stocking up on the old blue paper towels you used to see in gas stations, but they're getting scarce nowadays.

These would be great for collecting dew off leaves.

I don't know the source of the Dollar Tree compressed towels, but I did find a mfgr, Leage Products, that touts itself as "... a leading manufacture of compressed towel series in a variety of specifications."

http://www.compressedtowel.com/

They say specifically that the towels are non-toxic. They also have compressed underwear...

These specifically state "no additives", but definitely not dollar store prices.

I actually bought the "disposable underwear" from these guys, came in a 5-pack, took up about 6 inches(?) in my luggage, threw them away as they became raggedy, wearing them several times before they gave out.

I also buy their shampoo/conditioner/soap/laundry soap sheets. You can carry them on because no liquid, although you have to use more sheets per "wash" than they recommend.
