There's a big difference between analysing an incident and thinking "What would I have done differently?" and second-guessing the guy who actually did it. The former could save my life someday; the latter is pointless and even counter-productive. As miniMe said, if all you conclude from this is that the guy was an idiot (and from what's coming out, I think he was anything but; he was an experienced, competent outdoorsman who took a calculated risk and had very bad luck), then you have ""wasted the opportunity to actually learn" from his experience. All you have is a false confidence that this will never happen to *you*. And relying on false confidence is a lot stupider than anything Aron Ralston did.
