One silly problem I've had with my headlamp - being that its so comfortable - is that during the winter I'll put it on over a stocking cap and forget its there. When that happens pulling my hat off usually results in the headlamp being flung with some force to the ground.

If I'm outdoors this generally isn't too much of a problem, but if I'm coming indoors, its not uncommon for my headlamp to go slamming into a concrete floor at pretty good speed. Luckily, to date, the EOS - being an LED lamp - has come out of each flinging unscathed. I'm virtually certain that would not be the case for a non-LED light.

For anyone interested in picking up a Petzl e+LITE soon, the word is that an upgraded package will be released in January of 2009. The new e+LITE unit will be exactly the same as the old except that the new cord clip on the strap will also serve as a 100-decibel–rated whistle. See the bottom of page #1 in http://en.petzl.com/ProduitsServices/E02P2_elite_E025000E.pdf for more information.

Great idea, looking forward to seeing (and hearing) the new design. Click here for Andy Kirkpatrick's review of the e+LITE headlamp. Andy is a hard-as-nails climber & alpinist.
