I enjoyed a demanding 2 1/2 day training session on primitive deerskin to "brain-tanned" buckskin technique. We started by skinning a reasonably fresh roadkill whitetail doe and then got individual hides to process.

I believe my partner and I made all the mistakes possible and will be featured on the blooper tape, but we did learn. Now if my jacket would just stop smelling of punky woodsmoke ....

We're going to convert our buckskin [doeskin?] into a banner for our primitive skills class. Using primitive dyes and inks we are going to create pictographs for the various primitive skills the club is promoting.

Anybody else find this skill of interest?
