To all those who served, to all those who sacrificed, to all those who never came home a gain...thank you and may the Power behind the Universe hold you and comfort you always.

+1 on that.

I would also like to recall that our Veteran's Day was originally Armistice Day to commemorate the end of WWI, and those who served in it.

There are only a few of these guys left. I remember meeting as a boy my Great Uncle Johnny, who survived mustard gas poisoning while serving with the Canadian army in France. He lived, but with trouble breathing the rest of his life. He told me that he was just a second slow putting on his mask and "only got a wiff." He never talked about the guys who were slower or got more than a "wiff."

Happy Veteran's Day to all, regardless of whose Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, Coast Guard, etc, that they served in.

All veterans share the experience of the horror and necessity of warfare. My congratulations to all who have been fortunate enough to survive and thus, able to celebrate this day.

My flag is flying proudly!!

Thank you to all that have served.

It was recently put to me that when a vet is thanked for his service, that they all say "Just doing my job".

It is true though. One enters the service to do just that, Serve. Once you are in and realize that its us versus them, that service becomes even more important.

It becomes service to your buddies, teammates and friends. It becomes your job to keep the folks around you, and especially those the command has seen fit to place under your responsibility alive and safe. In fulfilling that basic need, you and your friends fill the needs of this beautiful country.

It is a beautiful thing to have served my country. I have benefited from an education and experiences that no one could purchase at any price. And each night as I begin to slip off to sleep, I remember each of those I have served with who didn't return; either from combat action or just sad mistakes. It is then I realize we as Americans owe it to those that made the ultimate sacrifice, we owe them a proud and free nation that will still be here long after my time has gone.

Now this washed out MP needs a beer and a Kleenex.

Nice Post Blast,

Yesterday 18 members of our youth group took time off school and participated in the local Rememberance Day parade or Honour Gaurd at the Cenotaph.

It was terrific to see Veterans, active duty personnel and todays youth gather together to honour those who served our country.

Ditto the above. Let's also not forget that the USMC celebrated its 233rd birthday on Nov 10. Interesting that those 2 fall so close (even though, yes, Vet's day was originally Armsitice day).

Thanks to all on this BB that have served, whether or not they were "just doing their job."
