A .223 green tip placed into the engine block could put an end to that nonsense pretty fast. You could always claim that the bang was the machine backfiring just before it decided to disintegrate. Yes, it was an interesting ride. It was enough to wake us up. The bed was still shaking even after I was awake enough to realize what was going on.
