Ha, I immeadietly though of a folding bike as well. HAM licenses aren't a bad idea either - those small ones are easily stashed in a purse or bag of some sort so you and your wife could communicate. You'd have to scope out reliability in the city canyons though. Got an Au Pair that is survival minded?
