This isn't really suitable for the Survival Forum, so I'm posting here. Looks like I've landed a job developing databases. Should start sometime next week pending approval of my employment contract. Nothing like 13 months of job hunting after being laid off to make one feel humble.

Congratulations! When you receive your first paycheck, take $5 and give it to a homeless shelter. There is always somebody in worse shape

Sad thing is, nearly everyone is worse off now than they were before the recession set in. I am surprised that I will, for all intents and purposes, still be working in IT. Information Technology has crumpled up in a heap, jobs-wise, in my area.

Craig,
Way to go! Hope the new job works out great. I own my own business, and felt very discouraged today. Sales are the worst in four years, so I had to let the part time staff go. Chris is absolutely right with what he said. I was unemployed and totally down and out 18 years ago. The Salvation Army bailed me out. A helping hand and a fresh suit got me a job, and I've been rolling along ever since. I send a little cash their way every year. Best regards, Keys

Thanks dude. I certainly hope so.

I still entertain thoughts of owning my own (tiny) business doing technical and scientific editing, copyediting, and proofreading.

At least I can't lay myself off!
