There few things that I'll wear on my belt, whether at work or on my own time. Of the things I do carry, a pager is mandatory. Two other items that I do find indespensible, especially when not in the office, are a flashlight (Maglite or Surefire) and multitool (Leatherman PST).

Finding the right pouch to carry a flashlight and mult-tool has proven more difficult than I had thought. Given the amount of time I spent looking, and the apparent lack of any threads on the subject, I thought I would provide list members the benefits of my research. Please note: my research was limited to searching for holders that would accomodate either a Surefire 6P or 2AA Mini Maglite and a Leatherman PST. Doubtless there are other flashlight/multitool combinations and some of the companies listed below may make holders for your gear.

The first place I searched was Leatherman's web site. Leatherman offers a black nylon combo sheath that will hold the PST and a 2AA mini mag-lite. My concern with the Leatherman designs was that the flashlight was exposed and potentially could be knocked loose or pushed out of the pouch. I continued searching.

Nite Ize makes some interesting flashlight accessories. The first is the Mini Pock-It that holds the 2AA Maglite and a multitool. The company also sells the Pock-It, for when you need to carry more stuff (e.g., knife, keys, scissors, pens, etc.). Both come in black, green, blue, woodland, Mossy Oak, and Advantage.

The next place(s) I searched were the tactical gear companies. Eagle Industries makes a Duty Mini Maglite Holder, but it does not hold a multitool. Blackhawk Industries makes a BlackHawk Duty Flashlight and Pistol Mag Combo Pouch that holds a Surefire 6P and a multitool. The only color option is black.

For a custom-style leather combo holder, try Herb's Leathercraft. He makes a combo holder for a Mini Maglite and Leatherman Tools and also for the Buck knife and the Gerber multi-tool. Herb's available design holds the Maglite in a loop.

The final company I found was Ripoffs. These guys are unbelievable. They make holders for just about anything you might want to carry on your belt or waist and they make their holders with either a metal clip or nylon loop for attaching. Rather than describe their offerings, I'll just provide a link to their flashlights page. I will note that some of their styles hold the flashlight in a loop, making it easier, in my opinion, to be knocked loose. Other styles have the flashlight enclosed.

If anyone is aware of other companies' combination pouches, I'm very interesting in hearing about them.

Regards,

atty_guy

I used the Letherman combo holder/case you mentioned and it was doing great. But after a while top of my maglite was all scratched up. Everytime I had to put my Wave away I would hit the flashlight. Not a biggie since I don't think I would break the lens but still it didn't look too pretty. So how easy is to get a flashlight knocked out of the loop? Not that easy but possible. Never happened to me but it was half way out in some cases before I cought it. When I switched over to Inova X5 light and ARC LS I gave up on the combo pouch.

Ripoffs that you mentioned are great cases, and their clips are super strong. I had their pager case that I picked in the store but anything else that I wanted I could never get. Distibutors always seem on backorder for some reason.

Blade-tech makes a combo mag/light pouch that they can easliy alter to fit a multi-tool and light. They aren't cheap, but their products (I have been using their IWB holster for several years now and love it) are top notch...

This was a question I had for several months last year until I came across a website called www.leatherwork.com. THey have a great product. I was looking for a leather case for my Swisstool and they fit the bill. They also make a case for each multitool under the sun and several combo cases as well. Check them out. They are fast, and their procudt is top notch. I hope this helps.

Garett,

I visited the site and was wondering which holster you chose. My personally... I'd like to carry my SwissTool in a shoulder-type holster (concealed) and my Mag-Lite AA on a belt holster, but if I can't get that, the leatherworks.com site seems to be the next best thing. Anyone have any other suggestions?

Thanks.

I chose the single holster for the swiss tool for belt carry. I love it! I ave one to my bro in law and he loves it. I also like that it is almost stylish. I wear it everywhere, except church. You can get them to make just about what ever you want, al you have to do is tell them what you are looking for. Look at some of their custom work. I had my belt loops adjusted to be 1.75 inches as I wanted to be able to use a larger belt. They are really good to work with and they will make you anything you want. I love my holster and I think you will like yours as well.
