Looks like a lot of propane there to cook with. It would be nice to see pictures of it without the tarps to know what makes it worth 3 grand. It looks like an old trailer with tarps and a few propane tanks. The tents look to be very heavy canvas (may be difficult to set up) and do you need 3 wood stoves & tents for a BOB? I think with the gas prices as high as they are you could find an 18 to 25-foot older travel trailer for sale for the 3 grand. I see lots of trailers and motor homes for sale as I drive around my area with my job. And with a trailer or motor home you don’t have to set up tents, it’s ready to live in as it sets. I think a motor home gets the slight edge for a BOB vehicle because it’s completely self contained and just needs a set of keys to take off assuming you have it at the ready all the time. Also it’s got a large flat roof that lends itself to solar panels. With that and a refit of LED lighting you could do very well keeping yourself in electricity.

I don’t see the poor mileage a motor home gets as an issue for a bob, it’s going to be sitting almost all the time. You are only going to be driving it in a BOB situation and the gas usage is a much lower concern at this point.

Better have a vehicle with good fuel capacity for the time you need it. Gas lines tend to be long at those times.

The trailer looks nice, but seems a bit pricey.
I'd shy away from a motor home as a BOB, mostly because they usually can't take poor road conditions very well, whether from weather or trying to go off road if the traffic gets dangerous.
I'd try to take my travel trailer with me, but I'd also have the most valuable goods inside the pickup bed rather than the trailer on the chance I'd have to cut it loose.

The trailer itself, assuming it isn't rusted out and is in reasonable mechanical condition, is probably worth $3000. Tire/wheel condition might change that a little.

As far as trailers go the USGI versions tend to be rather heavy. Tough, as long as they aren't rusted badly, but heavy for what they are.

I like the idea of a Bug Out trailer. Instead of having to pack stuff up piecemeal when the time comes you back up, hook up and drive away. If the trailer was light enough it might also be possible to use it as a handcart.

I don’t know that a small motor home or a converted bus large or small bus (the small 12-passinger ones) would not go anyplace an auto pulling a trailer could go?

The roads in the USA are very good, I think even a farm or logging road could be traversed by a bus or motor home, or an auto with a trailer.

I don’t see it as an issue that the roads will be a problem in a bug out. Roads may be damaged by earth quakes or blocked by debris or fallen trees or flood water. But these conditions apply evenly to all auto based traffic.

In a flood an old converted school bus may have an advantage because it sits so high. Trailers like the one the original poster is looking at is at a disadvantage in a flood because it’s close to the ground.
