First I had an old Mag-lite Solitaire which i took all the "guts" out of. Then I unscrewed the lens cap and cut the male threads off, flush with the main handle.
Using a hobby lathe, I turned a tight fitting plug for the now open end and epoxied it in place.
Then, unscrewing the end cap, I removed spring and spare bulb and cut off excess so all I had was the cap and threads.
Then I drilled a hole in end cap to accept the sparking wheel assembly from a WWII Trench lighter I had purchased some 15 yrs ago.
Epoxied it in place and now have a sparker which I can replace flints, store 10 or so spare flints and can even hold 2 spark lite tenders in handle.
I made this several months ago and have been testing it quite frequently. In fact I have used the 10 spare flints I had in it. It works like a charm.
I'd love to show it off, but I have no idea how to get a picture of it on the forum.
Bear with me while I try to figure it out.
