I wear wool pants every winter, wouldn't go any other way, one thing though is I'm in long underwear so the itchy part doesn't bother me.

I buy pants from Cabela's all the time, never the wool, all I can say is the cargo pants never seem to hold up, blow out at the pockets. For wool I'll stick with high quality pants. I had a pair that I bought when I was 17 wore them every year until my early 30's looked like new when I could no longer fit into them.
