How do you wear a belt buckle? No seriously... If you think I be cracking cowboy jokes I won't. I have one but do you have to get a spare belt for it or just wear it over your existing one?

Most western belts have a folded end to the belt that snaps closed; this allows the buckles to be changed and still keep using the same belt. Sort of a Sunday/Holiday buckle vs. a daily wear buckle. 30carbine--65 yr old Texan

Could you imagine that nobody out of 60 guys here in my work palce knew how to do it? I suspected it was a belt with snaps but I never saw one and stores didn't carry those. Thank you again. I guess real Cowboys are still out there.

I have one trophy buckle somewhere in my junk. Take a look at old Remington or Charlie Russell paintings. Those guys NEVER wore belts. The things cut you in half riding all day and one of those big buckles can ( and has) lacerated livers in a wreck. Anyway, 30 carbine gave the answer. Just watch out for buckle bunnies and other fellas that have to one up you. We had a drugstore hero show up with progressively bigger buckles to best everyone. I finally 'borrowed' a cadillac hubcap and wore it <img src="images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

One last nickles worth--my father (1902-1998) spent his life till he was 70 breaking horses; at which time he said he didn't heal as well any more and spent the rest of his life riding and watching his cattle. But he never wore a big buckle. He either wore suspenders (braces) or else on Sunday wore the traditional "Ranger Belt" which is a 1.5-2 inch wide belt with two stitched on straps on the front which held a 1 inch buckle and keeper. Big buckles, like Chris says, are worn by young Rodeo performers who haven't learned yet what a real injury they can produce, and young studs who work in town and think they know the dress code for country music events--events which have nothing to do with horses.

I just have an Emergency Medical Technician buckle that my friend gave me. No I won't be doing any sqaure dancing althou I have my eye on a cute gril from San Antonio. I ride horses but not every day so I don't think I feel confident enough to do any rodeo stunts.
