Excellent find! Could be just what I'm looking for.
You could just get an Archos 5g.
Oooh, thats nice but just a little too large and spendy at $700. I've already got the Archos 605 4Gb model at $200 which uses solid state memory rather than a Hard Disk. It allows 16Gb SDHC cards so I can swap out the flash memory, which I cannot do with the other Archos models. So it should also be slightly more robust. An externally powered 3G capable WiFi router would allow multiple Internet access clients and wireless file sharing between the clients.
What I like about the Archos is its adapability, as it can do all of the following,
Internet Access either via your own or public WiFi access point, for internet radio & TV services ,web pages, FTP access, webmail etc.
Media Player - Video and MP3s etc.
Wireless Media Streamer from a PC or file server to a HDTV (allows 720P via the Archos docking station).
Digital Video Recorder DVR.
In Car GPS Navigation via the GPS accessory

PDF viewer.
Of course most of these can be done using a laptop such as the excellent little Asus Eee, but the Archos fits into a shirt pocket and it require less power, i,e smaller solar charger. Its also cheaper as well. I also use the Archos in conjuction with a Laura portable Digital TV/Radio for recording and viewing multichannel broadcast TV/Radio with a much higher resolution screen.
