Hi Chris,

I know you love horses and I wanted you know what Dan Alloway said about his brother David. I hope all horse owners will listen to Dan statements.

"I am Dan Alloway, David Alloway's brother. This morning at 10:50am David passed away at the Medical Center Hospital in Odessa TX. He died from multiple organ failure brought about by septic shock caused by an infection. About a week ago, a horse stepped on David's foot, mangling it pretty badly. David had lived his life getting booggered up by horses. He was cowboy tough. He would just shrug it off most times. This time because of complications due to diabetes he waited too long before going to the Doctor. He went to the hospital in Alpine where they shipped him off to Odessa to amputate his leg. He never made it to surgery."

This is truly sad. People get to complacent around the things they love; horses, the ocean, even firearms. I just spent the evening with a wonderfull young thoroughbred. He went from a willing partner to a biting, kicking monster. It turns out the poor guy had a molar erupting laterally into his cheek. Our shared Vet spent the afternoon performing major equine dentistry. Then we watched for an hour until the sedation wore off. Like a chunkhead I was in shirtsleeves. Ever see a savvy, survival forum administrator wrapped in a saddleblanket with lots of horse DNA on it next to a BBQ fire? <img src="images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" />

I think your right. You can not stop doing the things that you love, that is what life is for. I would rather die climbing in the mountains that eating to many potato chips on the couch any day. I would never regret it for a minute.

I just thought you might want to know how he actually died and why just in case you did not know already. David Alloway survived a 200 kilometer Pilbara trek, which is considered the toughest survival trek open to civilians in the world. That was a monumental feet but what got him was a common accident with horses. It is not always the strange and dangerous things that kill it is sometimes the common and ordinary.

What can you do!!!!!!
