I found a pocket chainsaw for $7 and bought it out of curiosity. Then I read the review and felt good about my find. I have not had a chance to use it yet but I hope to next week while clearing some brush. Has anyone used one? are they any good? Any tricks to using them? I'll let you know it goes. I hope it will make a good one for my larger kit.

Rick

I have the Saw In A Can. They are very stiff at first, but like any tool loosen up with use.Adding, or fabricating a short set of handles is really neccessary if you don't care for blisters. I used mine for the first time just yesterday when a Eucalyptus tree crashed into the weanling's pasture. I was able to buck the smaller branches very quickly. then my partner showed up with a double bit axe and I fled with the colts! Keep it oiled and clean. Kerosene is the traditional cleaner for wood sap. If you happen to have a multi fuel stove, the fuel can be used to clean .

It was very stiff at first but loosened up some after several cuts. Mine come with a set of plastic handles with strings attached. This made them much easier to use. Cut up to 4" stuff without any problem. My 14 y/o son and 10 y/o daughter used it as well with very little effort. I love it when something really works. Will be a welcome addition to my larger kit.

Rick
Being challenged in life is inevitable, being defeated is optional.

A buddy of mine had one in the Corps and we used it quite a bit in the field.
Later bought on myself but keep it in camping box due to weight.
