Yes, this is a spin off of the "Favorite Camping Meals" Thread.

I love Breakfast, it is my "meal of the day". I believe that breakfast should be pretty substantial.

I feel that Supper should be somewhere between "filling" and "light", depending on the temperatures that are expected during the night.

Which brings us up to the subject of this thread: LUNCH.

Lunch is needed to do what's got to be done during the afternoon hours be it woodsmanship projects, playing, or whatever. It often seems like a hassle to stop in the middle of my activities to prepare and eat, time wise. I usually cheat by having something(s) for lunch that are quick, down, and dirty; so as to minimize the interruption to the days activities.

Some of my favorite quick lunches (not in in particular order):

BBQ Vienna Sausages, Ritz crackers, and chedder (medium or strong) cheese

unheated hotdogs on bread (w/catsup) with chips

unheated biscuit with sausage or bacon leftovers from breakfast

MRE

canned Deviled Ham sandwich w/chips

What do the rest of y'all do for the lunch interruption????

I cheat and prepare lunch while I am preparing breakfast. My favorite is to heat somehting hearty - thick soup, chili, stew, spaghetti, etc. - and put in a stainless steel "thermos" until I am ready to eat. Bonus if I have some bread or crackers or nuts to go with it.

Yeah, yeah, its heavy and bulky, and so what, you asked.

Bagels, with cheese and sausage, or peanut butter. Toss in some cheesy crackers and granola bar.

Oh, wait, that's what I eat every day for lunch at work. :P

String cheese. Jerky. Hard salami. MRE bread, PB, jam sandwich. Cheese and cracker packs. If the weather is cool enough, I bring along a container of stuff I call chickensh...err, chickenstuff. Costco canned chicken, mixed with mayo and sweet pickle relish. Put on saltine crackers...

Peanut butter sandwiches and beer. I can live off that indefinitely...

Pastrami and pepper jack cheese on pumpernickle. Perhaps a slice of salami, and some brown mustard.

Those Starkist tuna salad lunches are good, or I'll make my own with triscuits and pilfered mustard and relish packets. Its a toss up as to which is cheaper. Summer sausage, cheese and bread. Canned fruit, especially pears. And for a snack during the day I like granola, with chopped dry fruit and nuts. Dried kiwi is my favorite although its hard to find. I'll eat MREs, they're fine and we have rations better then any in the past, but eating them often enough at work, I'd just as soon eat something different in my free time.

peanut butter and honey mixed in one of those Coghlan's reusable tubes.

I'll squeeze out some on to the small tortillas (soft taco size)

Only problem I've run into is when it's cold you need dynamite to get it out of the tube.

My offspring and I will also pack some little potato rolls and a little bag of pepperoni or Canadian bacon like you get for pizzas and make little sandwiches while on the trail.

My wife and I do the same thing while traveling on the road so we don't get tempted to stop at every McDonald's we see.
