Mosquito netting is good stuff to have around.

Repellents are okay but they wear off, they are messy and none of them feel or taste great. Wear a repellent for a time and it gets on everything. Before too long it starts stinging your eyes, gets on the cookware and around the mouth of the water bottle. Yuck.

Mosquito nets are a good alternative. For years I have carried the head nets. Wear a boonie hat and ahead net over it and it goes a long way toward avoiding the pesky critters without having to slather on the bug juice.

A larger net propped up over the sleeping bag makes life in the outdoors a lot easier.

Mosquitoes are likely to be a big issue now that Fay has moved on leaving the southeast extremely well watered. Give it a few days for the mosquitoes to hatch out and you may be seeing people getting carried off by the swarms.
