I've just come across these and I have to say, they sound tempting. I've been swearing by Recyko batteries ever since I got them, but lamented the lack of C and D cells. Now I found (?) a solution. I have two major concerns, though:

1. Do these work with other brands of batteries?

2. Do these work at all?

P.S. And what about these?

I don't have any direct experience with the Eneloop adapters, but Sanyo is rolling out true C and D sized Eneloops starting in Japan next month. You can read about it here . No idea when they will be selling them in the US. Oh, and a new charger that will accomodate all Eneloop sizes.

I have used adapters in the past and they do work but you--obviously--have much shorter runtime that you would with a true C or D-sized battery. The fit can be problematic depending on the capacity of the cells. Unlike alkaline AA's, which seem to all be pretty much the same size, higher capacity NiMH cells tend to be a bit fatter and may not work in adapters designed for a lower capacity cell so they may or may not work with your cells.

Edit: Wait, not sure why I'm fixated on Eneloops. Low self-discharge C and D cells are already available from Accupower, too.

Mmmm.... shouldn't it be possible to just file off the sides a little so the batteries fit?

If your Reckyo's are too big and if you can file the adapter to fit them, they will work in any adapter like these. Same thing for the parallel adapter in the second photo.

I just got these recently to help me stanardize my batteries. Haven't had eneloop batteries in them but the lithium ones pictured work just fine.

Where are you guys getting the double capacity ones from? I'm only finding the adapters that take single batteries...

I'd like to know where to get the 2xAA to D adapters as well. I really want to replace the ones that came with my eneloop charging package.

Thanks for any info!
