If you want a stove that's a little spiffier than Esbit tabs, I can recommend the Mini Trangia 28 stove. It burns methanol or HEET. It's packaged in its own pot and frying pan, and includes a windscreen/potstand, and a pot lifter. I use it for backpacking, and while it's not the lightest alcohol stove available, it's nicely made, inexpensive, and runs on a commonly available fuel that leaves no soot.
