I recent l bought a CU7 and I was wonderinng what angle of a edge you should put on the blade. On the care guide that came with the knife it says to put a 10 to 15 degree angle but isn't that to narrow for heavy use. And also my altoids can doesn't fit in the sheath because of a small elastic band. In the care guide it says that the knife is prone to rust( Because of the the high carbon steel ) , is this true?

i have NO experians with C/U7's, but i have heard that some guys cutting of that elastic band to fit a altoids tin in it.
All high carbon steel rusts quite easely, thats why one of the reason they exposy coated that knife. The uncoated parts of the steel, the cutting edge in this case is the only place were it can rust, if the coating is intact. You can prevent rust by just making sure you wipe it dry everytime you use it and oil it once in awhil. Or just let that rust, you will remove the rust everytime you sharpen it anyway... the lazy way

I can not say at what angle to resharpen it at, but after using my CU7 to chop a couple of 6" diameter trees in half, the edge held up nicely. Still able to shave some hairs after use. When I got back from my multi-day outing after using it, I just wiped down the knife and oiled the edge and no rust thus far.

As for putting the Altoids tin in the pouch, mine was the same way, hard as heck to get it in there. I finally managed to get it in by stretching the elastic strap. It's still tight to put in and out, but I'd rather have it too tight than too loose. Total contents of my pouch contain a bottle of iodine tablets (horizontally on the bottom), Altoids tin with a Bic lighter vertically to the side.

I can't help you with the sheath pocket because I have a Companion and it has a different sheath. But I can help with the angle and rust. I saw the same thing in the instructions about the angle so I called Camilius. They told me to use any angle I like. I took the blade on a car camping weekend with the wife and found an eight-inch log. I chopped it in two, no effect on the blade. I keep using it and can't seem to dull it. I don't know if that is the steel, the angle, or both. I also took the knife on an eight-day whitewater trip. It sat in my "wet bag" and maybe took it our three times (it seems that my life jacket knife could handle most of my cutting chores). When I got home there was a little surface rust on the edge, but I hit it with the stone and all is well. The coating took care of the rest of the knife. I now use a Tuff Cloth and don't anticipate anymore problems (not that that was a problem to begin with).
