While researching the shelter group, I decided to go with a light weight tarp but needed a ground cover. I decided that Tyvek would fill the bill. Since Tyvek is sold in huge rolls as a home vapor barrier for contractors, I knew that I would have to find someone who sells it by the square foot. That person turned out to be Dave Goodling.

In addition to the Tyvek he also makes an alcohol stove that uses a central fuel reservoir. This is the exact design that I was planning to build. For 12 bucks, it is a real bargain considering the time required to fabricate this design.

I also found another clever device that is a pack hanger that doubles as a storage tube for survival gear.

Check out Dave's site here.

Mini Review-

My "goodies" from Goodling Outdoor Products arrived today. I had forgotten that the alcohol stove included a wind screen, pot stand and fuel bottle. That make's it the best US $12 I have spent.

The aluminum tube is sturdy and provides enough space for essential items in transparent tubes. Cool. Wrapped in paracord and a bungee cord it makes a nice compact design. As a plus for those of you thinking in terms of self defense, the tube might just make a good bludgeon.
