The USCG is expecting to open the Mississippi River tomorrow. Of course, the water intakes of Algiers, Gretna, and Belle Chasse were opened a couple of days after being closed.

All the small towns downstream had to close their intakes as the oil floated down on them and then the intakes were opened up as they oil floated clear within a couple of days.
