Greetings from the UK,
I'm looking for a source of circular tins, about the size of a beer can with a screw top. Reckon I can use the empty tin as a pot/cup. Any advice would be appreciated.
thank you in advance

try TK maxx, if you have one anywhere near you. they have some very interesting stainless steel storage tins, the lids are only friction fit, but could be easily improved with a couple of turns of tape.
cheers, and.

Hi !
I haven't found screwing lids.
To make car's PSKs, I plan to use normal tin cans and plastic lids : those lids come with tuna rillettes cans ("Petit Navire" brand - quite good stuff !!). I figure sealing the plastic lid with two turns of electrical tape should make a waterproof container.

I have not found screw on lids but you may want to look at the waterproof stainless food containers from Olicamp. These have spring clamp lids. I have looked at, but did not buy the small size one. These are available in 0.5, 0.75, 1.5, 2 L sizes. Not exactly beer can shape but may work. Search on Olicamp but this image is from: http://www.campstuff.com/acatalog/Individual_Cook_Pots.html

Air rifle pellets come in circular tins with screw on lids. They are not very deep though. They are made very well and come in various sizes. Mac

ILLY coffee comes in very nice round tins with screw on lids, 140 mm tall by 85mm dia. And once you taste the coffee, you'll have as many tins as you like (yum yum)

Good tip - thanks. About 5 ½ " x 3 11/32 " hmmm - those are almost the perfect size for a project I've been thinking about; I can modify a couple of things in the project and they would be fine. Kind of spendy coffee, though... about $11 a can?
What are the cans made of? The web pics suggest a spun aluminium can, but I can't tell for certain. Likewise, gauge - maybe twice the thickness of a pop can? I assume that there is a thin rubber-like gasket ring glued to the inside of the lid - do tell, is there?
I'll check the local joints this week, but if you can shed some more light on the cans I'd appreciate it. Thanks again!

The ILLY can is made of plain ordinary steel sheet, like any conserve tin. Inside the lid is a plastic insert that serves as both a seal and as the thread. Speaking high quality coffee, that lid sits very well and provides a very tight sealing, otehrwise,as you know, that divine coffee will lose it's aroma, get old and cause you heartburn.
