In his book "Painted bird", Jerry Kosinski mentions a device called comet (komet). It’s an old can with a long handle made out of wire. Lower side part has holes drilled and that's where you put moss, coals, etc... You carry it around by the handle giving it occasional swing to get the ambers going... You can slowly bake potatoes in it when walking or heat up soup or water by adding little bit of dry fuel. During night you can add some plants to it such that when burned they would keep snakes and bugs away. Loading it with coal will give you a steady source of radiant heat. Swinging it fast will heat it up really well which can be used as a weapon. Four or two legged predator will think twice before coming in contact with a man armed with red ball of fire. And the most important thing is that it allows you to transport fire from one place to another and have a flame and heat ready in seconds... I think I'm going to make it this spring. Oh and it's called comet because at the end of the day when peasants were coming back from the field they would swing their can really hard and let them go... They would shoot up in the air and fly with a trail of sparks just like a real comet.
