I've had good luck with a travel bag I found at Target. It is similar to the type of bag offered by Adventure, only less expensive. The one I use is the smaller brother of this one:

As shown, it has slots for utensils, plus mine has a flap that folds over the slots, keeping everything in place. The flap has a zippered pocket. On the other side is a windowed compartment that holds a great deal of supplies. I keep things separated with small zip-lock bags. There is also a zippered front pocket that holds my first-aid manual.
