I'm noticing a higher percentage of members from Texas, more specifically the Metroplex, than what I normally see in other Internet forums. How many here are from Texas and, more specifically, the Metroplex?

Because of his devotion to George W Bush we used to refer to 'the honourable member of parliament for East Texas' (i.e Great Britain): Tony Blair.

This is my first time in DFW, and so far really like the area!!! Now if my wife would let me rent a pick up truck, i'd fit in! I've never saw so many pick up trucks in my life!!!!!
Next on the list is a hat and belt buckle... we are going to Cavenders. I can really get into the texas way of life. Just wish i can keep up with the locals when it comes to eating. I have more then enough food for the whole day at breakfast! Then add lunch and then dinner...arrrggggggggggggggggggg.

As you know from 1834 to 1845 it was the Republic of Texas, hence the Lone Star state. Actually it was from 1836 to 1845. Jeanette Isabelle

We have Texas plates on our truck and RV. We belong to a consumer side RV group called Escapees, headquartered in Livingston TX. They provide our mail forwarding and our domicile address. We are technically Texas residents. But we seldom go to Texas.
When asked "what part of Texas you all from?", we reply, "A small county in the northeast part of the state called Maine."

Because of his devotion to George W Bush we used to refer to 'the honourable member of parliament for East Texas' (i.e Great Britain): Tony Blair. Bush is not a Texan. You can't just move somewhere and say you're from that place. If I moved to Great Britain, I couldn't say I was British could I? That always irks me. Read what I wrote. I never said he was texan. How come he has a texan accent anyway? When his brother raised in the same house doesn't? The Sock

Hey cool a Texas thread!
I am heading to Fort Bliss on wednesday to do some training with the U.S Army dudes.
Anyone know of any cool stuff to see or do anywhere around the Area of Fort Bliss. Head east to Houston and meet up with Blast.

I'd do it. I did the Biloxi to Houston thing once. That was when Biloxi had the bumper stickers that said "Beautify Biloxi, Kill an Airman".

Hey MoBob,,,I well remember the signs in Norfolk, Va yards that said: "Keep your dogs and Sailors off the grass"!
It's so nice to have the locals know, love, and appreciate the presence and money that those who protect them bring to an area.
I was thinking about starting a Louisiana thread but everybody already knows that Lousy-anna is all about us having the best politicians and police that money can buy!

If you do by chance get sent to Fort Polk, let me know,,,perhaps I'd be able to run over there and we could meet up. Bo

Back from a week plus in Texas... Love the state, well, the DFW area at least.
I have two trips planned for August, one business and the other for personal.
Anyone know of any good spots for a quick hike in the area? A few hours max, and if there is any good senery is a big bonus.
