Please allow me to throw in a simple question for the photography pros.

I have an old Nikon FE2 (film camera) with a few lenses. Are there any new digital Nikon cameras that accept the same lenses I have for the FE2 ? Thanks

I am far far far from being a pro, but my guess would be that if they won't fit, a good camera shop can provide you with a adapter that will make them work. Before I got my Nikon, I was thinking of a Pentax digital body and an adapter that I was told was available so I could use all of my old lenses...

Nikon Ai lens bayonet mounts will fit the new digital bodies. As I understand it the lens will provide more power on a digital body that on an older film body. I have my share of Nikon lenses too (55 micro, 105, 135, 200) and will soon drop some coin on one of the new digital models.

Your lenses will fit. One of the grand features of Nikon is that they support nearly all old lenses with their mount. The old lenses will not of course have all the electronic links etc, but they will very likely mount and you can use them as you have on that film body....manual aperature, focus etc.

Stop by your local camera store with the lenses and try them out on one of the new digital bodies. The lens you have shown may require some sort of an adapter. I don't have any of that vintage. All my lenses from 1980 on fit my D200 fine.

Chisel - the D300 and D200 support all old lenses, including letting you enter the focal length and aperture settings into memory. That's one of the reasons I got the D300 - I can use my old manual lenses.
