A completely useless thread but had to put it anyways.

For more than one reason I didnt like the term "bug out bag" (BOB) and preferred to call mine Bag of Tricks (BOT).

Instead of giving me weak knees in a messy situation , reminding me every second that the stuff had hit the fan and I had to "flush out of the area", It is a moral booster to beleive I had in this bag the means and tricks to survive any challenging situation. That is why I like (BOT) more than (BOB).

Also, for the general public of not-so-prepared folks , another name (safety bag) can be closer to the mainstream vocabulary and minset.

In any case, if you had the chance to name it before the (BOB) term was heard, what would you have chosen

If it wasn't named BOB, I would have named it Chris.

How 'bout Pack Of Stuff??? Oops, POS is already in use...

Same thing the mountain men called theirs.....possibles bag. Because it has to handle all the "possibles" of what might be needed in the wild.

There was a thread a while back about calling it a brew-kit. As in, a British gentleman doesn't get lost, but he might decide to stop and have a brew-up while he thinks about what to do next.

Like "Planet Bob". Becuase I can, and it is generic. "John" would be more generic but my brother is named John and it wouldn't work so well....

Friend of mine calls his bob a scat pack.

I've heard 'Ready Pack' used quite a bit.

Scene: Me and another person are casually standing around in some generic outdoor setting....

Casual Bystander: "What's that on your shoulder?"

Me: "A backpack." I casually answer.

Casual Bystander (indifferently): "Oh."

Casual Bystander (indifferently): "What's in it?"

Me (indifferently): "My stuff."

I sometimes call it my "get the f*** out of Dodge" bag.

The air force calls them "crash bags", The army sometimes refer to them as "go bags" depending on the branch. No idea what a sailor would call a BOB.

An overboard bag? ha ha

To be politically correct you could call it an ERK. For Emergency Relocation Kit.

A sailor would just call it a ditty bag, like any other bag that wasn't a duffle.

Our SA crew in Iraq sometimes referred to them as an "Evac Pack".

The first rule of bugging out is: you don't talk about bugging out.

My BOBs nickname is the "Oh Sh#t! Bag" or OSB for short.

Musette Bag Although I guess if you're carrying a musette bag, you're probably moving towards the danger instead of away from it. But it covers it pretty well.
