As a way to gather more supplies I was wandering around the Big Blue Demon of Retail a couple of nights ago. I actually managed to spend some money. I purchased a Gerber Mini-ParaFrame to clip to my pocket (about $9), two fleece "sleeping bags ($10 each) for the car, a can of fix-a-flat type stuff, and a 486' roll of catfish string (nylon 300+ lbs test, about $8-9). That catfish string is tarred. So, it is a little smelly, kinda like fish. I made a bunch of 25' bundles. Some for my backpack I EDC and some for whatever/wherever else I dream up. Take a look at that string, in may be useful.

Standard disclaimers for all products.

Smelly ("...kinda like fish...") in your backpack? I hope that there are no bears around (or racoons, or other critters).

300+ test is impressive tho. If I recall correctly, mason twine (which I assume is about the same diameter, but I an just guessing) is about 155 or so pounds. Your stinky stuff seems to be much stronger...

Actually, the smell reference was that it, the twine has a smell, just like fish has a smell. Not that it smells like fish. It is a petroleum-based smell, like tar. Since it said on the package that the twine was "tarred". Man, am I confused.

The twine was listed as #36. I think mason twine is #18. I don't know what the numbers mean other than possibly a "gauge" or something like that. The twine I bought is thicker than mason's twine. I put the twin on the outside of the backpack that I EDC. The bundles are in those little loops that look like a MOLLE strip going down the pack.
