I have to second garland's response. As far as real self-defense 1/8 inch thick steel bar taped to the adjuster on a baseball cape seems better. But why let someone armed within 5 feet of you in the first place.

I agree but the answer is because there are places where you are not allowed to legally carry a means to keep them farther away.

And sometimes they can just pop up in front of you. Not necessarily armed with a knife or gun, but still a threat...

In this case I bet a swift kick in the pills with a steel toe boot will go farther to save the day than trying to fight off a guy with a hat.

I mean come on folks really, a frigging hat?
