A humorous (though heavy in profanity) description of five experiments which show just how nasty most people are.

5 psychological experiments that prove humanity doomed

Wikipedia.org has good write-ups of each of these experiments. I'm was a little suprised by the results at first but upon reflection I could easily believe them. On the plus side, someday when I become King this knowledge will serve me well in controlling the masses... whistle

Awesome...testiment to how arrogant we are as humans.

I love that conformity experiment. It's boggled me ever since I heard about it years ago.

I've seen some of these before, but others are new to me. That poor puppy!

Can't help but wonder how I'd react in those situations. I've felt the "pack mentality" settle in on me while watching hockey games back in college, and I wasn't always the lady...

The NHL glamorizes and promotes violence in sports by allowing fighting on the ice. I do not watch those games any longer.

You might find the 4 part BBC documentary called 'The Century of Self' rather interesting on how to control the masses. Its already happening BTW. wink

That's why I posted it. I figure when we see it happening maybe we can do something about it.

Unless of course I'm the one doing it. Y'all will be well rewarded in my coming monarchy. grin

p.s. Christina, it's a good thing I'm married to the only woman better than you. Otherwise me and your husband would end up in a duel. wink

Being a psychology student I've had to read about many of these experiments, as well as watch video of them. It's amazing the results they have. I've watched video of the original Milgram experiment, where the people administering the shocks are crying because they don't want to do it, but still continue to give the shocks anyway. Really, it's both sad and scary.

I have read some of these experiments from years ago.
The listing in the link, is out of order, so NEXT-> is
necessary to see the "Prison Experiment". It impressed me.

Zimbardo ran a "Prison Experiment" using Stanford students
as subjects.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stanford_prison_experiment

I have not seen a whole lot of replications or variations
on these experiments. Maybe more were done and they were
not noteworthy. Maybe it is all to scary.
By word of mouth, I heard from an experimenter, that subsequent
humanitarian standards were in place to protect subjects,
but no details were forth-coming.

Sighhhh....

Blast, we've been over this before. I will be Supreme Dictator for Life while you will be First Chemist and Minister of Demolitions.

Seriously, you can look at the positive side - these studies might help us understand the effects of good leadership.

Hey, that actually sounds like a good plan! I have all the fun, you suffer all the assasination attempts. Could I have the title, "Minister of Re-Engineering". Trust me, two days after I get unlimited accountability a lot of things will need to be re-engineered.

-Blast, rethinking his role in the future history of mankind.
