While staying at a hotel last night I caught this show last night on the Discovery Channel. As far as I can tell, we'll get to watch several groups of people die out in the Alaskan wilderness. Makes me almost wish I had cable at home.
Personally, I think it looks like a fun time but I wonder if any of the groups know how much firewood they'll need to cut...

I agree with Blast's assessment. I figure at least a cord of wood a week on average. I've done 25 cords with my brother over the summer, from downing the trees to bucking the branches to splitting with a maul to stacking it 6 feet high.
Uh, good luck?

I caught part of the show and liked it. It looks like a show I'd keep up with.
Also, I noticed the full episode can be viewed at the Discovery Channel Site so if anyone is interested you can view the show there in the "Full Episodes" section.

Nope, no cable for the last eight years or so. I'm too hyper to sit and watch tv, the DW would rather read a book, and the DDs don't know what they are missing.
On the other hand, it means I don't have a clue about 90% of the conversations at work.
Don't feel bad Blast, we don't have cable either. The cable company won't run out to my house, and we tried sattelite for about 3 months and then dropped it.
I mainly only watch the local news. It is nice that the kids don't even really want to watch tv because there isn't anything on.
each group has an experienced survival person with them. They don't really have to know much. they just need to get into a few fusses with their partners to keep people watching.
