Found this item called the Thirst Aid via Gizmag.

From their website:
"Our advanced water filtration technology enables the user to get water from just about any source, from drainage ditch and muddy puddle to a standpipe, and be confident that the Thirst Aid pouch will remove it's contaminants."

Thought it was interesting. Anyone tested this yet?

I inquired about U.S. availability and got this reply:


Thank you for your enquiry concerning our Thirst Aid Bag.

Due to high demand and a material availability issue we are currently unable to supply the Thirst Aid Bag at this time.

We have made a note of your email address and we will notify you as soon as production commences which is scheduled for May/June 08.

It's a neat idea. I want to know hear what the experts say. My problem with some devices is that they are to slow. We had a Katadyn filter for our troop and it wouldn't do a pint in an hr.
