I was always a big fan of the simple non-stick pad and some athletic tape. Sometimes, I would pour peroxide over the wound and watch it foam before using the pad and tape. if you plan on moving the joint, rip the tape into pieces of enough length to amek one wrap around your arm or leg, if that is where the damage was done, but not so much that the piece can wrap around the limb twice. Wrapping tape this way prevents blisters and loss of circulation, based on my experience.
