Aloha Gang,

I have been absent from the forum for a little while. Work has kept me busy. Here's what I have been up to the past however long it's been:

My first business trip was to Oahu's scenic North Shore.

Fortunately, my family came with me. So while I worked, they got to play.

Having a snack before hitting the water.

Before heading out on a mainland business trip, I had the pleasure of meeting Aitrus and his lovely daughter. Unfortunately, my wife and kids and I were under the weather at the time, so we didn't hook up to break bread.

Right after meeting Aitrus, I had to get ready to fly out. First stop, Dana Point, California.

A picture from my lanai. Sorry about the poor quality, I didn't bring my camera and this was off my phone.

Next stop, Las Vegas. No pictures because what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas. wink

Immediately upon my return to Hawaii, I had time to unpack, repack, get cleaned up and hit the sack. First thing the next morning was a family camping trip. YES!! I didn't get very many pictures at all.

My baby girl holding our newest camper, my wife's best friend's baby.

We ate pretty good, as usual. I got the first night's dinner assignment. I made a couple of chicken, kind of kalua style, but without the imu. That and a salad of greens, tomatos, salami and cheese. And of course, rice. Our breakfasts over the next few days consisted of sourdough pancakes, Portuguese sausage, eggs, rice, fruit, oatmeal and whatever leftovers we had. Other meals, from memory, were pork cooked in a dutch oven over the fire, teriyaki beef cooked on the camp fire, pork and beans, sausages, and even falafel. Oh yeah, we even got to supplement our meals with freshly caught tako, prepared pulehu style!

I thought I would be beat, with all the traveling and work and all, but camping was just the ticket to recharge. The rain and wind just made the experience more fun. And the full moon and camp fire were a perfect combination.

After we got back from camping, I had lots to catch up and follow up on for work. My wife and kids got to go and play in the tide pool at Shark's Cove with other moms and kids while I worked.

But I made some time for holoholo with my girls.

Then we get the call that my mother-in-law is in the hospital. For the past week or so, she hasn't been able to keep food or water down. My brother-in-law took her to the emergency room against her wishes last week. It was the right thing to do as she has really low energy, doesn't want to or can't move much, has a very elevated and erratic heart rate. My wife has been spending several hours each day at the hospital, so I have had kid patrol duties, which means many things are and will be delayed a little bit.

We are still trying to find out what the problem is. At first I heard it was related to diabetes, then an infection. The test results are not all in yet so we really don't know what is going on in there. I just hope she gets well quickly.

Anyway, sorry for the long winded post. I am happy to be back online on the forum, even if it is late night for me. For those waiting for stuff from me, thanks for your patience.

Wow, we've just gotta get back to your islands! Maybe in a couple of years (after TakesAss, Florida, NYC, SD, and I forget where else). I presume you make sticky rice. I haven't had that in years, since my old partner (who was from Kauai) used to feed me...

Aloha,

OK, now I know that you and Blast have a conspiracy to torture me, at least that what the voices in my head tell me. (Don't listen to the voices Blitz, don't listen to the voices)

Great pics and beautiful children, thank you for sharing, (read totally jealous.)

I really hope your MIL is better, I'm sorry to hear that she is not feeling well. frown

Not having seen the Sun for days,

Blitz
