OK folks, here is an odd one - I've always found the classic "cigar box" is great for storing a lot of the small ETS stuff around the house. Thing is, every TRY to get one today? I refuse to pay $8 for an empty box online, and all sthe cigar shops around here are gone

Has anyone found a source for them say, in bulk, or some good replacement for them?

Why would anybody buy an empty cigar box? Full ones are way better!

How about a shoe box? I bet you could get a ton of them from any Pay Less Shoes or big box store.

If you know a cigar smoker or two see if you can ask them to save you some. My last ones hit the garbage can about four months ago. Since the ban of smoking in restaurants, I stopped buying boxes.

If you yourself can enjoy a cigar from time to time, then befriend a good tobbaconist. If not, you might try to ask one anyway. My favorite tobbaconist is in downtown Manhattan, on Warren St. just west of City Hall, Richard of the Wall St. Humidor. Some places that do a good volume and might be willing to give you some, these include Nat Sherman's and JR Cigars.

I have a couple bigger tin cases, like altoids ones but bigger, and those are nice, but there are old, and I think Mom bought them years ago at a novelty place.

if you are in So Cal, I got 3 cigar boxes you can have. I kept them for no other reason than the fact that I'm a pack rat and hate throwing things away.

I use those plastic boxes that are apparently for school paraphenalia, and cost about a buck at WalMart and comparable places. Look in stationary or kids' school supply areas.

They're 8.5x5x2.75", semi-clear or colors.

Susan,
Thanks for the tip

Yeah - if I can make it down to J&R - last I remember they hit you up for $1/box, but some of their boxes are definately worth it. Back in the days of Floppy disks, and when I worked downdown, there was one style box (can't remember which cigar) that EXACTLY fit 3.5" floppies - with a nice slide wooden top - got a bunch of those from a co-worker who smoked cigars. Right now, I know no one who smokes. Neither cigars, cigarettes nor wacky weed!

Thanks - but I'm in NYC (There seem to be enough of us in the area, we should really talk about a NYC Metro get together)

Shoeboxes tent to be too large, and real "cardboard" ones fall apart

JR's is now only in midtown, 562 5th Ave. The downtown, Pearl St., location closed a few years ago. Nat Sherman's is only a few blocks south, 42nd and 5th. De La Concha is on 6th btw. 56th & 57th. Dunhill and Davidoff are in this area. There is a Barclay Rex on Lex. about 50th.

I am supposed to meet a few former members of what was NYC's largest cigar club. I was a member. I'll try to remember to ask them where one mght get some boxes.

I switched up using old shoe boxes and cigar boxes and the like to plastic shoe boxes that I can get at Walmart for 99 cents. The are more secure, more durable, and just the right size. I figure I've got maybe 40 or so of them now holding all sorts of gear, ammo, supplies, you name it.

Nothing beats a cheaper upgrade.
