Well, it is late/early and I do not have my act together. But I wanted you to know that the session at Richard’s was a great success. All five of use newbies – Mekal, Bear, Robert, Kat, and I – joined the “first smoke club” with our new bow drill fire kits.
For those who walked this path before, you know how satisfying the first one was! For those who have not yet done it and want to, a good instructor and the right material made it easier than I expected - go for it!
Richard, his wife Camellin, his daughter Mellissa, her friend Nicollete, and family friend Scott Kent (who I think is an STC member) coached us and demonstrated how to do it to keep us encouraged while we whittled away to make bows, handholds, fireboards, and spindles. The ten of us filled Richard’s backyard deck, somehow managed not to burn it down, and had a great time. It was nice to meet everyone!

Thanks.
P.S. Richard's homemade beer may have been the best beer I have ever tasted, good thing he didn't break it out until the end of the evening.
Oops, it's Pamellia and swap the girls’ names. My bad.
