All,

After all the recent talk about kurki's and hatchet's... I came across this this item on the CRKT site; the Razel SS7 (http://www.crkt.com/razel.html).

Looks interesting, anyone handled one?

Kris

Funny. It looks just like another knife/tool they made before only in more styles.

And I can think of at least 2 knife manufacturers who made this style of knife before Columbia River.

Anybody else think it's odd that a designer can attach his name to a completely unoriginal design?

Becker use to make make a knife/pry bar that before they went out of business.

A little different but it has a lot of similarities.

Yes, Interesting idea and nicely made. Just remember this, nearly every piece of gold jewelry or dental crown has a bit of Pharoah's gold in it through recasting. I fully expect someday all the Spetznas survival machetes, ATAX, Tom Brown tracker knives et all to find eventual reincarnation as a $8 Mora.

I do a lot of wood working, I would not want a Razel for a chisel, and it looks like a way to loose a finger with the side of it sharp. I’ve already went through that somewhat and don’t want a repeat.

Kris; I have done a lot of reserch on the Grahm Brothers web site and I am very impressed with their knives. I know that this is another production run of a custom makers knife but I am ok with that. I have wanted one of these knives for a couple of years but couldnt justify the high price tag. Thanks for pointing out this link because now I am going to order one. I can see all kinds of reasons why this would make a great EDC knife. Again thanks for the link. when I get it maybe I will do a review for the forum.

It also looks very similar to the EOD Robotics Breacher Bar off of CountyComm.com. How many new designs for an edged tool can man come up with. I agree with Chris's comment about the Pharoah's gold, besides how many differnt kinds of pickup trucks are there? Burger joints? Blue Jeans? Can't fault a company for putting its name on a slightly tweeked version of an existing product.
