The kit is $33 with mixing container, storage container, filter, and chemicals. Chemicals are $20 for enough for 2.5 gallons.

It's more expensive than ceramic filters, but it may be faster if you need potable water quickly. The problem is you need the chemicals every time. With ceramic filters, you can reuse them for some period of time.

What I don’t understand is why people live where there is little or no food & water. It would seem to me that you move (even if you have to walk) to a place that can support your family.

I have to say that it's in mine opinion a poor solution for the "third world", like shown in the video. It requires a constant supply of the chemicals, which makes people highly dependent on the supplier. Solutions should be self sustainable for those people, by using local available materials. UV pasteurisation in PET bottles or home made ceramic filters are much more sustainable.

The problem of moving in some of these countries is that you will be going to an area where the tribe you are from is not a welcome member of humanity. Remember that the majority of the conflicts in these Third World countries is still tribal-based and people's lives are at risk if they go to far from where they have been for generations.

Now, on to the purification problem. I agree with the ceramics issue, if, and it appears that it is, the supply of the filters is sustainable.

I have a ceramic filter system, and it says the filters can be cleaned and restored to full functionality.
