Birth is not a pathological event, and need not be treated as one.

It's nice to see someone else who doesn't view pregnancy as a sexually transmitted disease. On the other hand I do like the
options offered by being at a hospital. We've found through hard-won experience that you need to tell them who's boss and once they realize it everything goes well.
Our last son was a water birth attended by a midwife - very progressive. But the OR was right down the hall should it be needed.
