I just received the lunch box Chris and Randy laboured to make available. These were a popular outdoors item in the 70s until microwaves nearly extincted them. These are much larger, holding a full 3 cups of water and of substantial stainless steel, no rubber gasket and a pair of locking roller hinges. Since these are food containers, I tried that out first. My ESBIT stove was a perfect match. In spite of experiences with heavy guage containers to the contrary, I easily boiled 2 + cups of water in 3 minutes with @ 1/2 fuel tablet. A measured cup of appropriate thai jasmine rice was easily boiled and steamed, with a can of caribou meat added. You can control burn temp with manipulation of the tablet size. Finally I created a cobbler with reconstituted dried fruit and bisquick flour uysing small coals from a campfire. A pair of chopsticks carved along with fuzz sticks make all steps easy. So, it works for a field kitchen. Is it a PSK? Yes, A very, very big one- If you have an oversized coat pocket. Normally, I have several items in pockets or on a neck lanyard. A quick pack easily loaded most. No more button compasses or razor blades. If you need a secure single container for essential gear AND a cooking unit it's this one <img src="images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
