seems like a commercial version of shelterbox

http://www.shelterbox.org/

would love it if shelterbox sold there boxes to the public and used the profit o fund there relief efforts

Neat concept ... though only a concept. And would most likely be quite expensive it would seem.
But ...hey ... looks like a great start and I like the packaging. Plenty of room in there for more stuff.
Will be interesting to see if this gets marketed.

The shelterbox is really quite nice. I'm going to have to adapt that idea to a bug-out vehicle box. :-)

Any idea who makes the multi-fuel stove that is in the Shelterbox?

I think I found it here:

Seems to be a heavy case with Optimus burner.

"Designed and built in house"...looks like they borrowed more than a few things from Optimus.

I wouldn't mind the old paint as a heat source, but I don't think I'd want to cook any food with it.

can you get high off of the paint fume? if so, new slogan? "not only will you be able to survive the cold night, we bring you psychodelic delight by the stoveful!"

Looks similar to the "new" GI footlocker (plastic), but taller...

Inspired in part by this thread, I bought a 34 gallon semi-clear PP (Polypropylene) box called "SAMLA" at IKEA for $15; lid and lid snap clip locks extra. It does not appear to be as tough/rugged as the Shelterbox, but I won't be air-dropping this or using a mule to haul it. It is intended to be a family Bug Out Box. I don't know its weight capacity, but it'll hold (both in weight & volume) what I plan to stock it with. It comes with four single direction casters that can be snapped out and made to go either "front & back" or "left & right". See dimensions here, but you have to buy in store:
http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/30102974

I'll edit this post once I find the receipt and can give the cost for lid and clip locks.
