Just want to see if any of you have used this backpacking tent before. It seems Ok on the description and reviews on various websites but I would appreciate first hand experience.

The reason I'm considering this is that this would make a good addtion to a BOB. I already have a tube tent, but it is rather flimsy. So I thot why not look for something light, sturdy and affordable. This seems to fit the bill quite nicely.

It would probably work in fairly mild, calm conditions, but I wouldn't want to rely on it in a typhoon. At forty bucks, don't expect quality stitching.

Let me add that I have no personal experience with this particular tent. In general, fiberglass poles are a sure sign of cheap production - something that will fail when you need it to work in extreme weather. A tent of that sort is going to cost at least $150, but it will be something you can rely on in severe storms.

My vote would be for a Sierra Designs Flashlite - a classic, proven design. If bugs aren't a problem, I would go with just a tarp (but you are talking about Singapore, right?). <img src="images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Singapre Bugs are a real problem, as is the damp gound in some of the areas. I would prefer bug and good ground protection. Tropical thunderstorms are the bane all tents, I wonder if you could recommend any which could stand up to that.
I personally use the hennessy hammock and that is really good for one person.
I will take a look at the SD flashlite.
