Illuminating (usually incendiary) projectile used to designate an intended target. Tracer ammo is illegal for regular civilian use in the US as far as I know. I am not sure of the FFL regs.

I never liked the notion of using tracers because it gives away your own location as well as your intended targets. It is great stuff if you are in a dogfight and you need to estimate lead on arc to your opponent. It is also a useful tool for combat analysis in the field when static targets and marksmanship are not so easily discerned.

They are also a major fire hazard.

No worries, I think DWESTE's initial post had a spelling error, but I figured that must've been what he was talking about.

If I am mistaken, my apologies. I am still working on first cup of coffee too. smile

I thought he meant "taser" iniatially....then I got it. Actually I believe they are legal depending on where you live, for instance I see them at gun shows from time to time here in Florida. I also know we had them at the machine-gun shoots up in Hernando County, just couldn't use them because it was always too dry (high fire hazzard).
Are they "worth" it......
Cost isn't too high on 'em, or used to be. So monetarily, yes.
Fun to shoot at night.....HELLS YEA! So long as its not an issue setting the brush fire....
Worth it in a tactical, civilian situation..... erm, no. Not even if you have your tax stamp/licence for full auto small arms. Also tactical/civilian is an oxymoron....kinda like military intellegence or government efficency.... Two words combined that just cancell each other out.

Sorry, guys, didn't mean this to be a puzzle.

Trasers, a term combining the words laser and tritium. A relatively permanent, self-powered, sort of cold fusion dim lights with a 10 year half life. Sold and perhaps manufactured in the U.K.

AKA glowrings.

Assuming that you mean tracer ammo, I am not sure about the entire country, but they are illegal in CA. There used to be shotgun tracer ammo that was legal, but I haven't seen any of that in years. It was a blast using tracer when shooting trap at night. I also found more than one roadside fire that had been started by some idiot rolling down I-5 blasting into the dry grass...

Ahhhhhhhh, "glow rings".........
Differnt bird altogether. Its alright Dweste, everybody makes a muddled post from time to time thinking it makes perfect sense, because to you it does.
Having said that as far as I know they are still not leagal to sell here in the US as they have to pass the federal nuclear regulatory commission....as do all things made with tritium as a component. Personally I'd love to get 2 or 3 myself just to play with them. I'm still hoping T.A.D. Gear offers their h3 tritium thumbstuds again soon as I'd love to throw one on my knife in case of dropping it in the dark.
So worth it, I'd think so. At least to me. Lemme know if ya find a way, like I said 2 or 3 of 'em have been callin my name.....
