It's in the USB 2.0 spec for mating durability. The minimum requirement is 1,500 insertion/extraction cycles at a max rate of 200 cycles per hour.

want a fun one - the connector that connects a GM dashboard to the car? Rated for 2 cycles - yes TWO. Ihey actually don't even use the connector to test the dashboard at the factory, but a "bed of nails" fixture (note: This info cica 1990 - thing might have changed - went to a conference that talked about how to set things when you couldn't use the connector)
