When I was "designing" my lighting kit for kayaking and camping I considered Lazer Brite instead of Krill Lamps. I mean the versatility and power output seemed very attractive but I gave the, up for the following reasons:

- it's a big unit, about 8 inches long
- it uses "weird" batteries which are not easy to come by in "survival" environment
- I couldn't justify cost of the burn time to battery life
- I haven't found any data or info about this unit being waterproof

Plus Lazer Brites were about $35-40 when I looked at them about year and a half ago. Now it has changed, they are cheaper so maybe somebody would give them a try in the field situation. But I prefer to stick with Krills.
