I personaly like the ham slices, the beef stew, and most of the breakfasts. What ever you do stay away from the enchilada they are nasty!

Dunno about the best tasting, but I think the worst was "frankfurters with bean component" - that's really what it said.

Way back when Uncle Sam was feeding me the MRE-predecessor C-rations (supplemented with powdered milk and weevil-infested bread) "best tasting" was a relative term — and depended on how hungry we were.

I loved them all when I was in the Army, but I'm not a discriminating eater. My dessert was a pinch of Skoal, so the aftertaste was always wintergreen..... laugh

Mre's Has a great selection anything with tomato sauce is good spagetti is one of my faves.

Don't most canned foods last as long as MRE's? Unless you need the MRE packaging format, go with canned food. $.02, YMMV
